Finding the right STL file
Printing Matchbox models requires first and foremost print files, so-called STL files. If you cannot design and construct them yourself, these can usually be found on the internet for good to very expensive prices.
Accessories for Hotwheels / Matchbox cars are simpler since there is more selection, ranging from free to expensive.
Which 3D printer is the right one?
Once you have found the right file for you, you "only" need a printer and a suitable slicer that converts the 3D file into a suitable language (format) for your printer.
At the 1:64 scale and for decorative parts/figures, details matter. Therefore, only a resin printer makes sense there. I print on an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro and an Elegoo Saturn.
Cleaning 3D parts
So then the whole thing prints and the process continues.
There are different resins, e.g., Standard and Waterwashable.
With the standard, you have to thoroughly clean your parts with isopropanol after printing.
That means you need containers, brushes, etc., and isopropanol is not without risks.
Then there is Waterwashable.
You can practically wash that off with water. Also use a suitable container, etc.
The water and also the ISO should be disposed of properly if heavily contaminated.
You should also always wear gloves, ideally also a mask and goggles.
Parts are now cleaned.
Then you can remove the supports with the appropriate tools.
Afterwards, you need a UV light in the form of a purchased or homemade box in which you cure your prints.
Once you have done that, your parts are finished.
Thank you very much for this great guest contribution!
